Agarbatti, Incense, Dhoop

 

In the olden days these were lighted to purify house, store etc. and to bring in positivity. They are also used in all Poojas.

While researching I came to learn that back in the olden days we used Dhoop which was made of pure ingredients. Britishers were the ones who introduce us to Agarbatti similar to how they got us use to Tea. The Agarbatti were not made of pure ingredients and more for fragrance. As time went on Agarbatti/Dhoop became big business. Even today it hard to fine pure Dhoop/Agarbatti here in USA.

Intense should be made of natural ingredients. According to Wikipedia.com - it has some psychological benefits. The aroma of the incense stick has healing power that has a soothing effect on the mind. The calming effect relaxes the mind and helps in performing rituals with better concentration.

Remember if you are allergic to anything, best is to avoid since many of the Agarbatti do not have ingredients listed.

Always remember to take precautions whenever using any agarbatti or dhoops. Never leave a lighted agarbatti unattended.

I have started trying various Agarbatti and Dhoop and will update this page on my reviews on each of them.

Review:I could not find what it was made of as no ingredients were written on the packaging but it smelled nice. It did say handcrafted. The fragrance made the room feel nice and cozy. The fragrance even linger after the Agarbatti got over. Agarbatti quality seem to be good  Overall great feeling. Would buy again.

 

Anand Agarbatti Gold Sandal - .79 cents at Patidar

Packaging says: Gold Flaxo Batti is a beauty of natural sandal oil and with it natural effect it gives strength in the atmosphere.

Review:Really liked it. Nice fragrance with a very calm feeling. It gives a sense of calmness and relaxing feel. Overall love it. The fragrance linger after the agrabatti got over and I got better sleep. Agarbatti quality seem to be good. Will definitely buy again.

 

Chocolate Orange Agarbatti by HEM - hemincense.com

Most common found in all grocery’s stores.

No ingredients mentioned

Review:HEM makes a lot of variety of Dhoop and Agarbatti however I did not notice much fragrance or anything special about this agarbatti. I would not buy it again.

 

Patanjali Aastha Agarbatti - patanjaliayurved.net - $1.09 to $1.79 a pack.

Review:I tried sandalwood. The packaging did not list any ingredients or what is made of however the quality of the sticks were very good and strong fragrance. I would buy again.

 

DHOOP

Most common found in all grocery’s stores.

No ingredients mentioned

Review:Created lot of smoke, no fragrance, dhoop did not burn fully, many times the sticks were either hard or dried up. Would not buy again.
